Gamba, a 12-year-old girl, lives with her grandmother and three siblings. Their household survives on one meal daily, typically consisting of chada (mingled cassava flour) and beans. Her situation reflects the broader challenge faced by approximately 6 in every 10 rural children experiencing insufficient food consumption.

Seeing Gamba and her grandmother, supplement their meals with various nutritious vegetables, having two meals a day filled our hearts with Joy. However, the need for nutritious meals among households continues to outpace our current capacity. With your help, we can expand our reach and nourish even more lives.

Last year, we helped 20 households supplement their meals by establishing vegetable gardens. These gardens not only provided food, but also fostered teamwork among the children involved, strengthened the bonds between the households, and enabled the sale of surplus produce. Two households expanded their gardens, and each week, the children would sell the produce, earning USD 1.90 or more. This income allowed them to purchase school supplies, ensuring they were better equipped and less burdened in their studies. At the moment we are expanding to reach out to 20 more households, give them supplies, and teach them how to grow vegetables all season through learning how to conserve water for food consumption.

Babra, a 14-year-old, and her mother no longer have to eat meals without sauce—a situation they previously faced.

We need your support to help expand this project to 20 more rural households. Our goal of $1,000 will enable us to purchase seeds, seedlings, and tools, and expand our garden beds to boost production. Additionally, it will allow us to offer more educational workshops throughout the growing season. When you donate, your contribution directly supports families facing food insecurity and promotes healthier eating within our community.

Please donate today to help this project win a SeedMoney grant. All donations are tax-deductible and go to the project even if the goal is not reached.
